Two benefits of hiring a full-time commercial handyman for your large premises

If you own some large premises, you should consider hiring a full-time commercial handyman. Here are two reasons why.

It could make it safer and easier for your cleaners to do their work

The presence of a full-time handyman on your commercial premises could make it both safer and easier for your cleaners to do their work. For example, if the stepladder that you keep on your premises, that enables your cleaners to reach and dust the upper corners of walls and to clean any artwork you have on display, has a broken step, then having a handyman on standby, who can fix this broken stepladder as soon as they're told about this problem, could be invaluable.

In this situation, it would mean that the cleaners wouldn't have to try to use other objects, such as chairs, to clean these out-of-reach areas, and put themselves at risk of a fall, whilst they wait for a local handyman you've contacted to become available for a call-out. Instead, this issue could potentially be resolved within an hour or less by the handyman who is routinely present on the premises.

Similarly, if the shelves in the store cupboard on which the cleaners' supplies are kept are unstable and need to have their brackets or screws resecured, having a handyman on the premises who can do this job right away would mean that there would there be less risk of, for example, the shelf collapsing and some heavy cleaning supplies falling on one of the cleaners. Additionally, it would mean that the cleaners wouldn't have to make do without using this shelf as a storage area whilst they were waiting for someone to fix it.

It will mean your premises will not go through periods of looking neglected

Another reason to hire a full-time commercial handyman is that it will mean there will never be periods during which your premises look neglected. Large commercial premises that are in near-constant use typically require lots of small repairs to be carried out on them on a regular basis. If you don't have an in-house handyman and instead only call a local handyman as and when you need something fixed, it's much more likely that there will be periods, ranging from a few days to a few weeks, when areas of your premises that require repair will look neglected, due to the local handyman not being immediately available. Even if your cleaners keep your premises impeccably clean during these periods, the property could still look uncared-for if these issues are not addressed.

As such, if you suspect that your clients would frown upon your premises looking run down or if you want to ensure that when you need to recruit new staff, they'll never be deterred from working for you by the sight of your uncared-for premises, then it's worth having a handyman on standby at all times, to ensure your property is always kept in great condition.
